Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye, fondly known as G.O or Daddy G.O, Pastor Adeboye became the General Overseer (G.O) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 1981. Sheer curiosity and the search for a solution to a personal problem led Pastor Adeboye to worship at RCCG – Ebute-Metta in 1973.
When men are cast down, then thou shall say there is a lifting up. - Job 22:28
Psalms 23 vs. 1: The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want...
In describing the Lord as a Shepherd, David was writing out his own early experience because he had spent his early years caring for his father’s sheep. He knows that the sheep is totally dependent on the Shepherd for sustenance– provision, guidance and protection; this I call the grace of following. Jesus is the good Shepherd (John 10 vs. 11), the great Shepherd (Hebrews 13 vs. 10) and the chief Shepherd (1st Peter 5 vs. 4), and we as his sheep are not frightened, passive animals but obedient followers who totally depend on Him for our sustenance– provision, guidance and protection; the grace of following HIM.
A man's god is that which . . . has the greatest influence over him; he sets the highest value upon; he chiefly devotes himself and his energies.
Doubt sees the obstacle, faith sees the Way. Doubt sees a long dark night, faith sees the day. Doubt dreads to take a step, faith soars on high. Doubt thunders, "Who believes?" Faith whispers, "I." Mk. 11:12
